Jiggas Twitter Q&A

WHAT WE CAN TAKE OUT OF JAY-Z’S TWITTER Q & A

If you give any sort of fuck about hip-hop, have a twitter, and are breathing, than Jay-Z probably blew up your timeline today, and you probably enjoyed it. And, if you aren’t aware of what happened than here’s a small breakdown of what actually went down:

·           Rapid twitter Q&A spanning from 10:12 A.M. (CT) until 6:11 P.M.

·           163 tweets, which primarily consisted of HOV answering completely random questions.

·           Cameos from: Ab-Soul, Miley Cyrus, Elliot Wilson, Aziz Ansari, 40 OZ VAN, etc.

Although the thought of Jay tweeting strangers all day is kind of amusing, some of these tweetsare actually pretty damn informative. Trying to take information out of a day worth of tweets is pretty overwhelming, but here I go:

We probably won’t ever get a longer version of Beach Is Better, unless Jay starts taking half year trips to Cuba. Honestly, Beach Is Better may be one of my favorite rap interludes of recent memory, but that 56 seconds makes me want a full version as bad as you do. The short length of the track actually may serve more of a purpose then some of us (including myself) may have thought. According to Jay, “This is how I feel about vacation. Just when,” (insert Cuba/Obama/Politic joke here).
Jay’s space bar is good; hejustreallydoesntlikelongtitles. Not that it matters too much, but you can throw out whatever theory you had on the lack of spaces in FuckWithMeYouKnowIGotItand SomewhereInAmerica. According to Jay, those songs just have “way too long of a title.”
TDE never loses. Just over a year ago we were being hinted about future Hov X TDE on-goings when Anthony Tiffith (CEO of Top Dawg) tweeted, “You know ur making progress when Hov reaches out 2 you.”Although Jay already gave K-Dot the ultimate co-sign by getting on the BDKMV remix earlier this year, we’ve been reassured about the co-sign from Jay. During his tweet rampage, he made sure to take initiative to reach out to Ab-Soul by saying “love this guy and the entire movement #factsonly.” Any Hov X TDE track has serious potential to be dangerous. Now we only need Jay Rocky and Q co-signs, someone tell Q to get that Jay feature for Oxymoron.
We’re still not fully clear on why Open Letter was scratched from the album. It was slightly confusing when Open Letter was silently removed off the iTunes tracklist after believing it was going to be a bonus feature on the album. Personally, my two theories behind the absence of the track are: 1) it was too controversial to be on a studio album. 2) It really didn’t fit the rest of the album.
This doesn’t completely mean that the track will serve no more purpose though. During his tweet rampage, Jay revealed that Open Letter will be available, “vinyl only, handled by Jack White.” This would make a great potential apology gift to Mr. Obama.
Visuals are on the way! This also may mean a single will be revealed in the near future. When asked about visuals for the album, Jay says, “yes, 6 pieces of art.” It’s up in the air on which exactly 6 visuals were shot, based off the tweets yesterday, BBC may be one of those visuals (it was the most fun song he recorded for the album). Whatever visuals Jay decides to put out, I pray we get a Rick Rubin couch-sleeping cameo.

Thank you for the tweets, Jay.
