Leg
As an NBA player, Spud Webb received plenty attention as an undersized guard who wowed fans in 1986 by defeating the human highlight reel, Dominique Wilkins, in the NBA Dunk Contest.
Now, Webb is coaching a basketball team that is sure to get plenty of looks, but not for its ability to defend the perimeter, run the triangle offense or show patience in making the extra pass.
Spud Webb has an interesting coaching job ahead of him. (AP Photo)
The 5-foot-7 Webb was announced Tuesday as a head coach—for Rick’s Cabaret/New York City—at the gentlemen’s club dubbed as the “No. 1 strip club in New York” by Playboy.com.
What team is that, you ask?
In an effort to provide basketball fans with entertainment while the NBA works toward getting the season started, the “sexy women’s team” was formed as part of the Rick’s Basketball Association, comprised of teams from Rick’s Cabaret International.
Webb’s New York team will play games against Minneapolis Downtown Cabaret and Tootsie’s Cabaret in Miami.
“These ladies are fabulous and have obvious talents and skills,” Webb said. “I can’t think of a better way to entertain long-suffering NBA fans.”
After the news conference Tuesday at the New York City club, Webb then put his team through a practice session in front of the stage where they normally dance.
“He’s a hero to people of all sizes and he shows that anyone can accomplish anything,” said Gianna, a point guard for the New York team. “Of course we are happy the NBA is coming back in December—they are some of our best customers. We’ll play ‘til the NBA season starts because our fans and customers want it.”

No more flu?
We've done this before but with players dropping like flies.. Here's a few simple ways to boost your immune system. No more man flu?
Drink more water
Drink 3 cups of green tea per day
Take grapeseed extract
If you can't (wont) get grapeseed.. A glass of OJ per day
Get more fresh air
EXERCISE
Eat more fresh fruit & veg
Cut down on sugar (fizzy drinks)
Cut down on processed food
Of course do all of these and you'll be Arnold.
Lots of love,
A reformed H.I.Ver

The DRose rule $$$
Players on their rookie deals remain one of the great values to owners — they get players who often can contribute a lot but at a fraction of the salary of a veteran who does the same thing. Those rookie deals remain untouched in the new collective bargaining agreement.
Except for one change — if you are an elite player you can make more in your second deal than your peers. And by “elite” we mean Derrick Rose.
Let us explain. Part of the new labor deal will allow rookies getting their second contract — which starts with their fifth season — to earn the new max of up to 30 percent of the salary cap (up from 25 percent). To qualify for the bump all they need to do is win an MVP award, get voted into the All-Star Game as a starter two times or twice in their first four seasons or get named to any level of the All-NBA teams in those four seasons, Tom Ziller points out at SBN.
The difference is about $3 million more a season.
To the joy of Jerry Reinsdorf, only Rose qualifies right now, Ziller reports.
However, if Russell Westbrook makes an All-NBA team this season he can as well (he will be offered a max extension by the Thunder on Dec. 9 and this super-max possibility will likely be written into the deal — which if he reaches it means he will make more than Kevin Durant). Kevin Love would need to win the MVP to qualify, Ziller says.
So, call this the Derrick Rose rule. But it is fair to pay guys who are franchise cornerstones a little more.

Friday and the things I left out
Summi Khan went for 21 points. He scored 16 of those in the fourth quarter. That's big. Even more so when you consider that the Storm only scored 18 as a team.
Lloydy obviously had a big game. But he didn't score much in the second and third.. the reason why?? He felt "selfish" and "greedy" and wanted to share the ball more. Had he cut his turnovers, shot our technicals and not fouled out.. would 50 have been unreasonable? I don't think so.
Mitchell.. I didn't put this but this has to be mentioned for posterity. 2 fouls in 1.5 seconds. That's more than a foul per second. CRAY.
Here's a couple of lloydy's buckets.. Check the unsung work that Fung does. The little pick, the rebound and no look hand off. So quiet yet so involved. Silent assassin:

Thunder for the chip?
NBA owners, players reach tentative deal, games to begin Dec. 25
AP
Finally, we are going to have NBA basketball again.
After more than 15 hours of negotiations Friday into Saturday morning (following a week of secretive talks), the NBA owners and players have reached a handshake deal on a new collective bargaining agreement the sides announced. (Ken Berger at CBSSports.com broke the story.)
“We’ve reached a tentative understanding,” said NBA commissioner David Stern at a hastily put together 3:30 a.m. press conference. “(The deal) is subject to a variety of approvals and very complex machinations. We’re optimistic that will all come to pass and the NBA season will begin Dec. 25.”
That will be a Christmas Day start with a triple-header followed by a 66-game season, providing both the owners and players ratify this deal.
There are a lot of details still to be worked out — first up are all the “B” list issues such as draft age and drug testing, things the sides do not all agree on but are not serious enough to block a deal. Then the players’ union has to be reformed (remember they dissolved to allow for antitrust lawsuits to be filed) and finally the owners and players will have to vote on a final version of the agreement.
All of that is going to take 10 days to two weeks. The lockout will not officially be over until then.
Training camps and a free agency period will begin simultaneously on Dec. 9, Stern said.
At that press conference neither Stern nor NBPA director Billy Hunter were willing to talk about a lot of details of the agreement because neither had spoken to their entire constituency yet. However, this deal is likely close to the last offer from the owners and Stern to the players. There may have been a little movement, but not a lot from the offer the players rejected less than two weeks ago.
The players got a little more than 50 percent of league revenue (BRI) but not 51 percent, according to Chris Broussard of ESPN. It is apparently going to be a band in the 49-51 percent range, but will essentially fall as 50/50. In the previous labor deal the players got 57 percent of the league revenue and that was ultimately the big issue in these talks — the owners say they were losing money and wanted a bigger cut of the more than $4 billion in annual revenue the NBA generates. With this they should about cover the $300 million the owners claim to have lost last year.
Talks Saturday took a turn towards blowing up again when players attorney Jeffrey Kessler — the real pit bull for the union — was on a conference call with the talks and said the players demanded 51 percent of the revenues. There was a feeling that might blow the whole talks up, but cooler heads prevailed.
One thing the deal will do is prevent larger-market, big-spending teams from competing in the free agent market as they had in the past, said NBA deputy commissioner Adam Silver. Again there were no details but with a stronger luxury tax and other punitive measures it will be hard for teams to spend up to and around $90 million a season. The deal also raises the salary floor — those small market teams need to spend up to 85 percent of the cap the first two years and 90 percent after that.
This would be a 10-year deal where both sides can opt out at year six.
Neither side loves this deal, which is how a good compromise should end. There are owners and players that will vote against it, but it is expected a majority of both will pass it.
In the end, Spurs owner Peter Holt summed it up best:
“We want to play basketball. Let’s go play basketball.”
Amen.

Where are these places?
Mitchell has FB'd about KB tonight from Trehafod and Heol-Y-Cyw. Timmy from Bargoed, Brean & Griffithstown.
What??
What??
Why I love Mitchell
Quote of the day:
"Tim do you feed your baby when he's asleep?"
Runner up:
Mitch: "Why aren't we using our match ball?"
Mal: "We're in Swansea Mitch"

Game day is always crazy. This one more so than normal.
We knew Mikey was out and with Mitch having proper flu, Lloyd having man flu and Mal having gastric flu it didn’t look good. Then I got the photo:
At the hospital they confirmed OZ has small tendon problems and requires cortisone. I spoke to OZ tonight and he’s fucked, but has a morphine drip.
At the game in the changing room I get the text from weezy that wifey had been taken into hospital and he was out too. And he wasn’t bringing my jersey.
(We all wish Omar & Weezys fam the best)
During the build up, Lloydy promised his boy he was gonna put up a line for him. He didn’t disappoint. LVD stepped on the court looking to win. Doped up on Lemsip he crossed, cut and hopped his way to KB’s first 10 points. In six minutes. Going on to drop 8 in the first quarter.
Swansea put out a strong team for this clash with an experienced “Sweets” and Summi Khan in their back court. Despite this KB took a big 12 point lead by the half off the back of Lloydys huge first quarter, Dave dropping 5 points in one minute in the fourth and Matthew scoring twice in the last minute of the half.
Although he scored sparingly in the second and third Lloyd still took command of the game racking up assists, rebounds and steals. In the fourth quarter, after the Storm had not only clawed the game back but taken a two point lead, he went off.
During a time out with 5 minutes to go the game plan got changed. Lloyd took full advantage going for 6 points and an assist in 90 seconds. KB leads 65 – 61.
With two minutes left the man of the match got fouled out and sat down, willing his team to a victory. Swansea brought the game back to a one point defecit with one minute remaining. Timmy got fouled during the ninth minute and went to the line, missing both. Followed by Mitchell who had an opportunity to extend the one point lead. He also missed both.
With 12.5 seconds remaining KB used its last foul to give taking 3 seconds off the clock. Mitchell played his best D of the season and made a last second attempt by the storm rim out... falling to Mitchell.. giving him his first joint man of the match of the season.
Lloydy was the first to jump from the bench and congratulate his team mates, and no doubt the first to call his hospitalised brother to let him know he handled business for him.
Game days are always stressful. Timmys blown exhaust and the headaches that followed, the travel, the preparation and organisation.. but it’s all made so worthwhile when we take that W.
Thanks to everyone who worked hard despite being ill and to those who gave lifts.

A few days ago we told you about one clever fellow who had found a way to create a ‘Siri proxy,’ allowing him to intercept Siri commands. This, in theory, makes Siri compatible with just about anything with an API, and the original proof of concept demonstrated Siri controlling a thermostat.
Now it seems that proof of concept has become something of an arms race, with likeminded individuals now making Siri connect with all manner of things, the latest being an automobile.
Using a Viper car system, an individual was able to instruct Siri to lock and unlock the car’s doors, as well as start and stop the engine. Super cool, indeed…
While the demo itself is something that will no doubt raise a smile, it is the other possibilities that the Siri proxy creates that really interest us.
With Siri now beginning to interact with real-world objects like cars, we can only imagine what it will be capable of if Apple open it up to developers.
Imagine a whole range of accessories that take advantage of Siri voice commands. Perhaps more pertinently, imagine a television with Siri support. With Steve Jobs reportedly working on the problem of the television being overly complicated, could Siri be linked into a television in the future? It is almost a given that Siri will come to the Mac at some point, but imagine being able to tell your oven what temperature to set.
It may be a cliche, but the possibilities are indeed endless.
Let’s hope Apple’s imagination is as good as ours, and that Siri does eventually become capable of doing more than setting reminders and alarms.
We could do without it becoming self-aware, though.

It’s a rumor that’s been around for easily two years now, and it just won’t go away. Is Apple really working on making a dedicated TV set?
Not the little black box we know as an Apple TV, but rather a big, Apple-branded television. Such a TV is definitely coming, according to Nick Bilton’s anonymous sources, writing for The New York Times.
What does Apple hope for by entering a market that is already very much in a race to the bottom, with prices on TV sets plummeting? How could Apple bring its typical flair to an industry which is, after all, simply selling the panels that we sit and stare at? The real magic happens in the boxes we attach to our TV, right?
According to Bilton, Apple has a secret weapon up its sleeve, and it’s Siri…
Apple has apparently tried different ways of finally banishing the humble remote control to the history books. iPods and iPhones were tried, just as they can be used to interact with an Apple TV right now, but the company could not find a viable alternative for quite some time.
Steve Jobs told his biographer, Walter Isaacson, that he had “finally cracked it” when talking about an Apple television. But what did he mean? Bilton believes that the missing ingredient was actually Siri, a voice technology Apple debuted in the iPhone 4S.
“It’s the stuff of science fiction. You sit on your couch and rather than fumble with several remotes or use hand gestures, you simply talk: “Put on the last episode of Gossip Girl.” “Play the local news headlines.” “Play some Coldplay music videos.” Siri does the rest.
Of course this experience goes beyond just playing TV shows or the local news. As the line between television programming and Web content continues to erode, a Siri-powered television would become more necessary. You aren’t going to want to flip through file folders or baskets of content, checking off what you want. Telling Siri to “play videos of cute cats falling asleep” would return an endless YouTube stream of adorable napping fur balls.”
Bilton seems convinced that his sources are correct, and that Apple is indeed planning on bringing a Siri-equipped television to market, possibly as soon as late-2012. Claims of large prototypes floating around overseas manufacturing plants make for good justification, though, as we all know, sources can be wrong.
We’re still not convinced we’ll ever see an Apple television, with or without Siri, and if we do, it ain’t going to be cheap.
We’ll all probably still buy it, anyway!
Now it seems that proof of concept has become something of an arms race, with likeminded individuals now making Siri connect with all manner of things, the latest being an automobile.

(From Gizmodo) Feeling Sick? Spit On Your Phone To Work Out What’s Wrong
It's never fun feeling ill, especially if you don't know what's up with you. But soon you might just have to spit on the screen of your phone to get an instant diagnosis.
A team of scientists from the Korea Advanced Institute for Science and Technology in Daejeon think touch screens could replace the need for blood tests, urine samples and lab work, report New Scientist.
The idea is to use the way a touch screen detects fingertips to analyze your saliva. Most (good) touch screens are capacitive — that is, they work based on the fact your finger contains an element of electric charge. But most capacitive touch screens are far more sensitive than we really need.
In fact, they're so sensitive that they can be used to analyze the contents of your spittle. So far, the guys from Korea have done some experiments with the bacteria that cause chlamydia on an iPhone-sized multi-touch display. With that, they can work out what concentration of bacteria are present. They're working on developing the technique to spot more than just chlamydia, but for now, console yourself with the fact that your iPhone can tell if you have an STD.
Just make sure you clean the screen properly afterwards, right?

KB likes girl on top. Of course they do. I considered celebrating the official KB GO TO Position but felt it probably wasn't the best idea since we already tip toe the NSFW line.
So instead.. a new poll.
Our All Star Saturday night never ended up happening.. but if it would have who would have won the one on one competition? And no.. you can't vote for yourself.
Vote away..

One liners... 10 stories in one! How cool!
• Kevin Durant is coming back to Seattle. For a charity game, but he is coming back.
• Jazz ownership wants you to know the rumors are not true, the Miller family has no intention of selling the team.
• Charles Barkley is ticked at the owners right now, but says the players should not be mad at Michael Jordan.
• The Miami Heat’s biggest stars — LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh and Udonis Haslem — worked out together last week at the Nike facility in Oregon. No Mike Miller with them, read into that what you will (think amnesty clause).
• Would a franchise tag in the NBA really help small market teams all that much?
• If you’re a fan of Matt Barnes or “Basketball Wives” you need to check out Barnes’ twitter comments from yesterday, essentially saying his wife did have a thing with rapper Game.
• Chase Budinger has signed to play in Russia during the lockout.
• The Milwaukee Bucks want you to know their fans win a lot of awards.
• An interesting feature on Joey Buss, another of the up-and-coming Buss children who will be the future of Lakers management.

Weird Mondays
Ok, so we'll do Christmas drinks. Sort out the details soon.
In the meantime.. I was thinking about what to poll next. The burning question was obviously who is weirder, Me or Tim. I didn't need to answer that question since Timmer came through with a Poll Question that he wanted to know the answer to.. simultaneously proving he is the weirder one.
I don't know why he wants to know. I just know he does.
Vote away.

MAGIC
This might be the best video on YouTube. MUST WATCH.
There will never, ever, ever be another Magic Johnson. Ever. Never. I mean, watch these highlights. Never ever, ever , ever. And the lack of Magic Johnsons has little to do with the fact that we’ll never see a man of his talents and skill sets, and far more to do with the fact that this style of basketball is dead. It’s been murdered.
I mean, this video almost barely registers as basketball. I hardly recognize it. It’s like watching some other sport. This game is gone. We haven’t seen it in 20+ years, and I doubt we ever see it again. I mean, nobody plays like this. Nobody. Name me one guy that plays basketball like this since Magic retired.
And look at the crowds. Even the crowds look different. They all look like they’ve been eating drugs for hours. They’re ecstatic. The games sound different. The fans are literally oohing and aahing. The announcers are laughing. Reminds me of those old VHS tapes the NBA used to sell. Every shot of the fans would show them standing, slack-jawed, completely incredulous. Now, when a telecast shows the crowd, it’s Beyonce lazily posting something on her facebook, using a touch screen smart phone. (Does Beyonce have a facebook? I’m sure she does. Maybe it’s under a pen name like Rita Baxter? Check it out and report back.)
Am I alone here? Alone, ranting like the homeless lunatic I passed on my way to work, who was shouting at his wet breakfast sandwich of Italian roll stuffed with newspaper?
When I was a kid, point guards who were out ahead of the fast break would actually slow down, let a someone catch up, then pass the ball backwards so a teammate could score. That wasn’t an oddity either. It was the norm. It happened in every game. When was that destroyed, and who is the destroyer? Was it you, Allen Iverson? Did you do it, Triangle Offense? I actually blame Michael Jordan, who was so good, everyone on the court held him up as the benchmark, then aspired to dominate games like he did.
Chalk this up as another reason why basketball, as a sport, is in horrible shape today. Call me the old man barking at kids for walking on the lawn. I don’t care. My lawn’s nice, and I like to keep it that way. So buzz off. You’re just pissed because your lawn sucks.

CJ Miles Queen Of The Hot Asians
In the middle of a conversation about beer and basketball came the words, "google hot jap girl".. It was random. And this person obviously didn't know he was talking to a connoisseur.
Before we start, you need to know that CJ Miles is the Queen.

Her Tumblr. Literally the one site you should visit before you die.
On with proceedings.

That person only being into asian girls for the last 3 days + Flickr's quality reducing over night = This can't be real life?
