Basketball Never Stops

May 2014.

There was one game left in the season.

KB Vs Barry.

KB, Beddau and Barry all tied with 3 losses. KB fielded 5 players per game most of the 13/14 season and two of those losses were down to fatigue rather than ability, but the situation remained unchanged.

Barry has always been a strong squad who played to win, and KB had been the perennial underachievers. Going into KB's most important game of the club's history feelings were mixed and pressure was high.

So in May 2014 KB hosted Barry to determine who would finish top of the league and go into a championship playoff.

Josh dropped 40 that day as KB sailed to a 62 point win.

History remembers winners, not excuses.

The record was 11 wins and 3 losses and a joint first place finish.

On Sunday 8th June 2014 KB made the journey to NIAC to face Connor Easter's Beddau team who also finished with an 11-3 record.

Josh and Magnus combined for thirty points as Timmy and Fung chipped in another nine each to delight the sideline, filled with family members and ex KB.

Elation filled each player after a long, hard season as the pressure was lifted.

It was the perfect way to end an era.

For 1 year and 40 days blogging here continued but the basketball had stopped. At least in the Skull and Crown.

Some players joined other clubs, some played at the park. Some didn't play at all.

83 days after the last blog post you still come here. I'm typing this at 9:30am on a Sunday and one of you has already checked Nick Young's Kobes and played Future today.

Today is the day this blog officially comes to an end.

It will stay up with all content intact.

People always used to ask me why the header never changed. I've known Lloydy for 23 years. I've been to war with him many times and as the on court leader of KB in all it's incarnations he has over 100 league games under his belt. An image of him passing knowledge onto Josh - who at that time was still little - encapsulated what was happening in 2012 when that image was captured.

Josh went on to win titles both domestically, nationally and make top scorers lists internationally. He is also the only KB player in history we allowed to wear white socks with black shoes.

Lloyd went on to play in the park, searching for the fulfillment that a season out took away from him.

I'd like to thank everyone who made this chapter of our lives so enjoyable.
